‘I’m a travel expert and I know how to get the best deals for summer’ | Travel News | Travel

Already thinking about next summer? With so many incredible destinations to choose from, it might feel a little overwhelming.

Luckily, a top travel expert has shared her best tips to secure a cheap deal on a summer holiday.

Yasmin Pekel, CEO of Blue Cruise, said there are a few ways British tourists can snag a deal despite high prices.

Yasmin recommends booking a summer break in January as this is when many of the biggest holiday providers have sales.

She also shared a few of her other top tips to find the best deals on a 2024 summer break.

Yasmin said: “Before booking your flight, use a price comparison site. Popular platforms like Skyscanner, Google Flights and Kayak are great for finding the very best deals.”

Prices can vary on different platforms so it’s always a good idea to check a price comparison site to get a full idea of the deals available.

However, different sites may have additional fees so make sure to check how much baggage, seat selection or admin fees are before committing.

She added: “Set price alerts. After you’ve narrowed down your list of summer holiday destinations, I recommend setting up price alerts.

“Again, this can help you to find the best deals, as you’ll be notified if there’s a drop in the price of your selected flight.”

If there’s a dream destination in mind, price alerts can help travellers keep track of the cost of flights and move quickly to snap up a deal when it comes.

Yasmin also recommends trying to be flexible on dates. She said: “Where possible, be flexible with your travel dates.

“Flying on certain dates or during off-peak times is usually more economical. If you have another airport relatively close to you, check prices there too. Sometimes travelling further by train or by coach is more cost-effective.”

Britons who live close to the England-Scotland border should check prices from airports in each country as the two countries’ schools have different term dates.
